scientist say the die because of a flood and a drought
Walter and Luis Alvarez proposed the theory that a large rocky object, such as an asteroid or comet, colliding with Earth caused the mass extinction of the dinosaurs. This theory is known as the Alvarez Hypothesis.
I does not. The asteroid would of had to knock out the entire earth for that to happen. If you think of the facts it is just not possible.
Mammal competition is a theory about the extinction of the dinosaurs. It says that mammals used up all of the dinosaur's resources, and then the dinosaurs died because they didn't have the food, space, and resources they needed to survive.
The Alvarez hypothesis proposes that the mass extinction of dinosaurs was caused by a large asteroid impact on Earth. The impact released massive amounts of debris and dust into the atmosphere, blocking sunlight and leading to a drastic cooling effect that disrupted the global climate. This theory is widely accepted as a major factor in the extinction event that occurred about 66 million years ago.
The most logical theory for the extinction of the dinosaurs is that a large asteroid impacted the earth. Look into it, this topic has many different theories and lots of different interesting information. The answer to this question can be opinionated and debated.
For ten million years prior to the K-T Extinction that wiped out the dinosaurs, massive volcanic traps were erupting in India. They released massive amounts of greenhouse gases, which altered the climate. The altered climate had decreased dinosaur biodiversity to one tenth of what it had been by 65.5 million years ago. Some paleontologists believe that this is what wiped out the dinosaurs.
The main reason is that many different organisms went extinct along with the dinosaurs, both on land and in the sea. In all, about 65% of all species on Earth went extinct. Furthermore, many groups of organism disappear from the fossil record very suddenly. This evidence suggests that a cataclysmic event devastated numerous ecosystems around the world.
Prior to the Asteroid Impact Theory of dinosaur extinction, one of the most popular theories for dinosaur extinction was the Flowering Plant Toxin Theory of dinosaur extinction. Flowering plants did not appear until just over 65 million years ago and many of them contain toxic plant alkaloids. The theory went that browsing herbivorous dinosaurs poisoned themselves eating flowering plants and built up high enough levels of the toxic alkaloids in their tissue that when carnivorous dinosaurs ate the bodies they were poisoned too. Extinction by this process was predicted to be slow, taking 3 or 4 million years. Dinosaurs never evolved the ability to taste the bitter flavor of these alkaloids, like mammals did who thus survived by avoiding the bitter plants. The current Asteroid Impact Theory is much prompter to eliminate the large dinosaurs, in some versions of the theory they went entirely extinct in only a couple years because they could not survive the icy cold dark winters lasting 2/3s to 3/4s of the year, following the impact for about a decade.
Impact event: The most widely accepted theory is that a large asteroid impact caused drastic environmental changes leading to the extinction of the dinosaurs. Climate change: Volcanic activity and changes in atmospheric composition could have led to significant climate disruption, affecting the food chain and ultimately leading to the extinction of the dinosaurs. Competition and evolution: The rise of new species, particularly mammals, may have outcompeted dinosaurs for resources, leading to their decline and eventual extinction in the Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary.
scientist think that a huge meteriod hit earth some dinosaurs died.the merteriod killed all plants the meats eaters died of hunger and the plant eaters died of hunger too.the meat eaters died because their food wich was the other dinosaurs died.the plant eaters died because the plants died of the metriod
the link is that it is a theory that a huge meteor or comet wiped out the majority of the dinosaurs when it impacted on the earth's surface and caused a huge amount of dust to rise into the air and blocked out the sun which meant that the dinosaurs could not breathe and probably froze to death and the impact would have caused an explosion that would be an equivalent to thousands of atomic bombs going off at once I am not totally sure of the facts but this is a start for you...also I think this is a theory and may not have happened at all unless we have testamony from someone who was around back then...sorry about the pun
