Christa McAuliffe had two siblings: one brother, John, and one sister, Susan. She was the eldest of the three children in her family.
Two, Sharon Christa McAuliffe, and Judy Resnik. McAuliffe was a teacher, actually!
As a Girl Scout, Christa McAuliffe earned badges, participated in community service, sold cookies, went camping and hiking, and whatever else her Girl Scout troop chose to do. Girl Scouts do many things, and it is up to the troop and the adult leaders to choose and arrange the activities. Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts Council has a Christa McAuliffe library of memorabilia and a lodge at their Wabasso Camp named Christa's House. Christa was also a Girl Scout troop leader!
Christa McAuliffe was chosen to be the first teacher in space through NASA's Teacher in Space Project, which aimed to educate students about space exploration. She was selected from over 11,000 applicants based on her passion for teaching and her ability to communicate science effectively to a wide audience. McAuliffe's mission on the Space Shuttle Challenger in 1986 was a groundbreaking event that inspired many to pursue careers in science and exploration.
Two, I believe: Congressman Bill Nelson and Senator Jake Garn. Teacher Christa McAuliffe would have been the third.
