The Chernobyl nuclear disaster, which occurred in April 1986, resulted in immediate deaths of two plant workers on the night of the explosion and 28 emergency responders died from acute radiation sickness shortly afterward. Estimates of long-term cancer-related deaths among those exposed vary widely, with the World Health Organization suggesting that up to 4,000 people may eventually die from radiation exposure related to the accident among the higher-exposed groups. Overall, the total number of deaths attributed to the disaster remains uncertain and is subject to ongoing research and debate.
nuclear waste went everywhere and little wittle babies died :'(
Chernobyl it was a huge nuclear disaster and if you went well you died from radiation
The most famous Nuclear disaster in Europe was the 1986 Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant Disaster in Ukraine. Nuclear radiation from an explosion in one of the four reactors leaked into the surrounding area and the near by city of Pripyat. Over 50,000 people had to be evacuated. 50 workers and firemen were killed and thousands of others died of cancers related with being exposed to the radiation from the disaster. Chernobyl and Pripyat are still heavily radioactive today and can still cause nuclear mutations if exposed for to long.
It was in the Ukraine, however it affected many countries across Europe and the world
534,000 died from the explosion.3.5 million died from radiation over the course of 15 years.By January 3 2000, an roughly 7.6 million deaths were reported due to radiation poisoning caused by the disaster.
Pripiat is a city very close to Chernobyl in Ukraine. (Ukraine is a nation in Eastern Europe) It is in Northern Ukraine near the border of Belarus. In 1986 a nuclear reactor in a nuclear power plant in Chernobyl exploded, causing a complete evacuation of Pripiat. Some died, only because it exploded at 1 o'clock in the morning, local time. The United Nations then launched a project in Pripiat to help the people devastated by the disaster.
Chernobyl*? Everyone within a good several-radius of the explosion, including plant and animal life. Nuclear radiation tends to kill living things.
It is estimated that thousands of people eventually died as a result of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in 1986. The exact number is difficult to determine due to long-term health effects and uncertainties in estimating indirect causes of death. The immediate death toll initially reported by the Soviet government was 31 people.
Aaron Twersky of Chernobyl died on 1871-11-21.
31 people died directly as a result of the incident. However, the knock-on effects of the incident has caused many other issues which are still being monitored and may have and will result in the death of other things, like cancer.
Chernobyl was a nuclear power facility and on April 26th 1986, in Reactor 4 (Where the explosion occurred) There were around 30 workers. Only 1 died from the immediate explosion. Several other workers suffered from acute radiation sickness and died. Many firefighters who were called to the fire that night also suffered from radiation sickness. So all together there were a lot of people there the night of the accident, but only about 30 in the reactor at the time. And all together 47 firefights/workers died.
Prypriat is the soviet city that is now deserted due to the chernobyl disaster.Iit was the city built to house the workers of the Chernobyl nuclear plant so was in very close proximity to the disaster
