Though that is extremely significant, you will often hear larger numbers (200+) reported in the media due to the way tornadoes are tallied. Reports of tornadoes are listed by the Storm Prediction Center first, but many of these reports refer to the same tornado. So there may have been 250 reports, but only 100 separate tornadoes.
