Dams. Correctly to say, dams do not make or cause flooding. What they do is to worsen the flooding. Many of you have seen dams built across the river to slow down the water flow, t, to create hydroelectric power, etc. Dam is essentially a gate or wall. It is not only water that dams block or slow down its flow. Dirt, garbage, industrial wastes are also being blocked by dams. They are stuck at the dead end and no where to go at the heavy one-way traffic. When those materials are to be built up for days, months, and years they raise the water level. When heavy rain arrives around the area where water level was already heightened by accumulated dirt, garbage , and other substances, it make it easier for that water to overflow to the land and inundate it.
