Many towns buildings and homes were destroyed, some places were people worked were destroyed so they could not make money to fix their houses, and they had to live on the streets. Many people became ill with disease from not being able to work for food and having to scavenge for water which was contaminated and because the people per doctor rate was is so high they could not be treated, and died.
