Apologies for being Socratic, but in answer to the first part of your question would be: What was God's reason for sending down the Great Flood? (Answer is in Genesis if you're interested in religious links etc.)
This is a universal question, and the answer is the same: to cleanse humanity of sin. If you read Ovid's Metamorphoses as I did (bearing in mind that I was 14 at the time and I didn't die of boredom) you will come to a greater understanding by far on a number of different myths (may I suggest that you read Melville's translation, otherwise you may indeed die of boredom - no offence to classicists to whom my comments may seem to imply that classicists are in any way boring: I do not intend to be derogatory in any way). The story is described there, and I will paraphrase it here.
Zeus (Jupiter in Ovid) is fed up with mankind's ingratitude towards him, as they have grown evil and greedy. He therefore orders his brother, Poseidon, to flood the land. The two people who survive are Deucalion and his wife Pyrrha.
Though I'm not sure whether this is applicable to the Greek version, this is overall, hopefully, a useful answer for you (I'm sorry if it's not, but remember that Roman and Greek mythologies are very similar - and the Romans take many of their 'own' ideas from the Greeks).
In Greek mythology, Zeus sent a flood to Earth to punish humans for their wickedness and corruption. He wanted to cleanse the world of their wrongdoing and start afresh. Only Deucalion and Pyrrha were saved by building an ark to survive the flood.
Zeus sends a flood to earth in Greek mythology as a way to cleanse the world of human wickedness and wrongdoing. It is seen as a punishment for human sins and a way for Zeus to restore order and justice to the world.
The mortal Deucalion and his wife Pyrrha were helped by Zeus to survive the flood sent to Earth. Zeus instructed them to build an ark to escape the flood waters and to repopulate the Earth by throwing stones behind their backs, which then transformed into humans.
When humans disobeyed God, God promised to send a flood that would almost annihilate the human race. Noah and his family were the only human survivors of the flood.
God directly says in the Bible, that he would never send another flood onto Earth.
God sent a flood to the earth to wipe out the evil people that were alive. It did not destroy the whole earth, but drastically altered it.
The US Navy did not send any ships to rescue survivors. All survivors of the Titanic were recsued by the Carpathia, a passenger/cargo ship.
No I do not think so. I personally think something drastic might happen but it will not be the of the world. The movie had a great flood that covers the earth and God said that He would not send a flood like that again. Referring to the flood in Noah`s day.
Whoa!!! What? God says that he would never send a great flood again and that leaves the earth being destroyed by fire. So I say no.
Hermes.
i'm sure that there are, if i have understood your question.
After the great flood, God sent a rainbow as a sign of His covenant with Noah and all living creatures. This promise indicated that He would never again destroy the earth with a flood. The rainbow served as a reminder of God's mercy and faithfulness to His creation.
