The question is not entirely clear, because some underlying assumptions are not stated explicitly. Obviously you assume that a consciousness survives one's physical death. You also seem to assume that a sleeping person is temporarily detached from his/her physical body similarly to the way that a deceased person is permanently separated from his physical body, and that the deceased might be able to permanently deprive you of your physical body (murder you) while you are "out of your body" in sleep.

This question is hypothetical, since no one can prove any of these suppositions. But metaphysical philosophies (e.g., perhaps Theosophy) and independent researchers (e.g., Robert Monroe, who experimented with out-of-body journeys) have offered theories that suggest possible answers to this question.

Not only in sleep but also in out-of-body experiences and astral journeys, the physical body of a living person is said to be attached to the astral or subtle body by a "silver cord." In the case of a deceased person, the silver cord has been permanently severed. In describing some of his out-of-body journeys, Robert Monroe reported being allowed to attend afterlife "classes" with disembodied deceased beings, who knew that he was not one of them (i.e., that he was not dead). If Monroe's observations are true, then that means that dead people can come into close encounters or contact with living people who are temporarily disembodied. (There are also self-reports of people who have astral-traveled in their sleep to assist the newly dead, as described in During Sleep: The Possibility of "Co-operation" between the Living and the Dead, 1974, by Robert Crookall.) Is it possible that a malevolent dead person, after identifying a living soul who is in the sleep state (and who is obviously still attached by the silver cord), could sever that person's silver cord and thus murder him or her? The answer is impossible to determine since reliable reports from those who may have observed or committed such murders (or been the victims of them) are unavailable. It's possible that the literature of channeling addresses this issue, but, again, there is no way to prove whether channeled entities are really dead people and whether they are telling the truth.

Another way murder by a dead person could be said to happen would be through a type of possession in which a disembodied soul takes over the physical body of a sleeping or astral-traveling person. The danger of such possession is one reason why students of the occult may be warned not to experiment with astral traveling. People have claimed to have been temporarily taken over in this manner, but there's no way of validating cases in which the possession was permanent.

The "walk-in," described by the psychic Ruth Montgomery in her book Strangers Among Us, is a slightly similar phenomenon. It occurs when an enlightened entity with a mission to complete on earth is permitted to take over the body of a human being who wishes to depart this life. This might occur during sleep or an accident, illness, or other condition. Since this supposedly takes place with the permission of the living person, it ought not to be classed as a murder (or as a possession like the type described above).
