They don't so much as hate us which is what most people think. Depending on the ghost, he/she might not like us either. But most ghosts don't mind humans as we shouldn't mind them. If people say, "Oh, that place is haunted." it's either because it's a BS rumor or someone just saw a ghost in that building. If ghosts are scaring you or tricking you, it's because that's pretty much what they do in their past time, just like kids ding dong ditch because it's fun and funny.
