One's mind has got filters to sift through information that is relative for that specific moment, and information that can not be used on that specific moment. The latter is stored in your subconscious mind. Example: If you sit in your office and hear the traffic pass by, your mind will actually shut the noise out after a while (some people call it 'focus'). Imagine we had to hear every single sound, every minute of every day.... We will go insane! There is just too much information at once!
All the information is stored in your subconscious mind. Think of hypnosis for example: You can recall a telephone number on a truck that only passed by without you even recalling that you had seen the telephone number!
Your subconscious mind therefor takes out what is needed at the moment you question it to deliver / you need the information. It will also influence your body language and your emotions, ONCE you take it out to consciously think about it. You can not have an emotional reaction of something that is in your subconscious mind until you bring it to the conscious mind. The subconscious mind is not linked to your emotions... otherwise you would be going insane!
Take for example Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome: You can live your life totally oblivious to anything traumatic that happened to you until you bring it to the subconscious mind (by triggers or pshyciatry). You then get flash backs of the incidents, and only then does the emotions get out.
If it wasn't for the subconscious and the conscious mind.... we would have gone insane long ago!
Anything that moves is faster than the processing speed of the subconscious mind, because the processing by the subconscious mind doesn't cover any distance. Your question involves a subtle equivocation between two different uses of the word "speed" that are really not comparable. But we can still appear to answer it, albeit indirectly and somewhat evasively, by pointing out that nothing can exceed the speed of light.
The subconscious is an aspect of the human mind, not a section of the brain. And it is not stronger than the conscious mind. It is just an influence, which may or may not be a deciding factor in a given circumstance.
I take it you refer to something other than the subconscious mind which makes our heart beat and our lungs contract. I don't think the term "subconscious mind", in the more Freudian sense, is considered scientific. This is because of its lack of precise definition. Nevertheless, it's undoubtedly true that a lot of information processing is happening without us being conscious of it. (Which is good, in case you should forget to flex your heart for a second.) In short: The subconscious mind is a layman's term, and not very useful in science. I hope this helps, but keep in mind that I'm no scientist.
Dreams are produced by the subconscious (unconscious) mind of the dreamer. Words spoken or heard in dreams are no more or less true than words spoken or heard while awake. The subconscious mind has no more access to "truth" than the conscious mind.
To understand the meaning of conscious and subconscious minds we must know the precise meaning of the words body and mind. What is body? The body is the isotonic component of the skeletal muscular system. Please note that we can neither feel nor control any of the other systems. What is mind?Mind is the isometric component of the skeletal muscular system. All the skeletal muscles of the body can isometrically contract and relax as a single unit called Unified Skeletal Muscle, popularly know as the mind.Since Isometric contraction can't bring about any movement the mind can't execute any movement. However, it can facilitate or retard a movement by adding or removing power associated with a movement.Anatomical conscious and subconscious minds:The Unified Skeletal Muscle or Mind can be divided into,1. Part below the navel / Conscious mind2. part above the navel/ Subconscious mindThus, anatomically the subconscious mind is above the conscious mind.Above the subconscious mind is the body, though not anatomically.Differences between the conscious and subconscious mind:Conscious Mind:It is obvious that the center of gravity of the conscious mind is lower than that of the sub conscious mind. Because of this conscious thoughts have lesser chances of getting converted into actions. Therefore they remain as pure thoughts i.e. these thoughts don't have an isotonic component necessary for movement.Subconscious mind:Thoughts are more blurred in the subconscious mind than in the conscious mind due to the following reasons.1. The center of gravity of this part of the USM/ Subconscious Mind is higher and therefore the thoughts in it have greater chances of getting converted into action. Therefore, they are partially bound with the isotonic component/ body than conscious thoughts.2. Since there is just one body for all thoughts thoughts in the subconscious mind are more crowded than in the conscious mind.3. Unwanted thoughts keep threatening to manifest as action leading to motor emotions viz. fear and anger. The aim of consciousness is to conserve energy at rest. It is very obvious that the conscious mind is the more efficient of the two because,1. It keeps the center of gravity lower2. It keeps the Isotonic component/ body at restThus sub conscious mind is the sub efficient mind.Subconscious mind the culprit in all mental disorders:1. It is the more active because of the higher center of gravity2. Thoughts in it are over crowded.3. Thinking is involuntary and not under our control.4. Thoughts in it get converted into actions more easily. Thus it is difficult to hide bad thoughts.
These are pretty much the same idea, however preconscious is the only accepted word to describe unsupressed information that exists just below our consciousness. Subconscious is and was used to refer to the same thing, but different people where able to define "sub" in different ways, "before", "under", "less than", "below", so "pre" was used instead because its definition is more precise and unique, "before" consciousness.
Aristotle believed that prophetic dreams were not sent by a god because he did not see them as reliable sources of knowledge or wisdom. He thought that dreams were simply the result of a person's subconscious mind processing information and experiences, rather than divine intervention.
It can be, referring to the psychological state of the mind. But it is more commonly an adjective. Conscious and subconscious are more frequently used as nouns than unconscious.
Generally speaking, yes. The subconscious mind is adept at noticing subtle patterns of behavior, comments, trends, etc. that might be overlooked by the conscious mind. The subconscious then follows these patterns and trends to their obvious conclusions, and the result is a dream that appears to accurately predict the future. But this is no more supernatural than the weather report forecasting next week's rain.
==new answer== Because the experiences are different and the subconscious mind uses dreams to convey a message to the conscious mind about how you are doing as a thinker. Each dream is specific and is about the dreamer. Everyone and everything in the dream relates to the dreamer. By learning the universal language of mind that the subconscious mind uses to communicate, anyone can have this information on a daily basis to use. It's like having your own personal counseler that knows you better than you know yourself, in fact it is your inner self speaking to you.
The subconscious mind can notice subtle events, emotions, trends and patterns that can easily be overlooked by the waking, conscious mind. When these subconscious observations are put in logical order in a dream, they can appear to foretell the future in a supernatural way. In reality, the dream forecast is no more supernatural than a weather forecast, based on observed facts that point toward a future event.
Hyperawareness is when you are more sensitive to stimuli than normal. Hypnosis is the process of bypassing the conscious mind to reach the subconscious mind, to implant suggestions for example, and the patient is more sensitive than usual, and also, contrary to popular belief, they are in a high alert, fully aware state. So, to answer, yes, when you are hypnotized you are hyperaware.
