The id is what we want at any given time without consideration of the consequences or even the reality of the situation. The ego is based on reality principal. The superego suppresses the actual desire because the superego is developed through moral and ethnically restraints. If our desires get suppressed, then our desires find a way to reveal themselves whether through our unconscious body language or our dreams.
