A man will visit if you drop a knife, a woman if it's a fork or a child if its a spoon. I think they will be unexpected visitors..
Maybe its true someone else should pick it up if it's a knife, there should always be a remedy.
I don't really know, but the superstition is..... To drop a fork means a woman will visit; To drop a knife means a man will visit; To drop a spoon means a child will visit; To drop a dishcloth means bad luck will visit.
Someone is coming
company's coming
The walking under a ladder superstition started because people can drop things from the ladder on top of someone walking underneath.

no. however a spoon of sugar or syrup in a drink counts.
Drop batters, such as those used to make drop biscuits, are too soft and runny to be rolled out and thus are dropped from a spoon. I use a large wooden spoon to drop biscuit batter on to the baking sheet, resulting in biscuits about 2 1/2" in diameter and with a more freeform shape than rolled biscuits cut with a cookie cutter.

Drop batter is batter of such consistency as to drop from a bowl or spoon without running usu. made in a proportion of two parts flour to one part liquid.
It isn't. That's just a superstition, and everyone knows it's bad luck to be superstitious.
It's unhygienic. The floor that you dropped the knife on will not be clean (as in free from germs). Your jeans will also not be free from germs.
