Candle magic is one of the simplest forms of magic, but also has the unique characteristic that it can become one of the most involved once you begin anointing with oils, herbs and incense.
Generally you will light a candle and use the flickering fame to concentrate on for meditation. Candles can also be used to draw energy into yourself, and expunge it back into the universe.
A lot of spells require candles as part of the ritual. You can find a list of spells at http://www.spellsofmagic.com/spells.html which use candles with instructions on how to use them for each spell.
Magic relight birthday candles work by having a small amount of magnesium in the wick that reignites the candle after it is blown out. You can find them at party supply stores, online retailers, and some grocery stores in the birthday section.

Non-scented candles work well, but may still attract bugs.
No. Magic spells are not real and do not work. You can not use magic spells for anything. It will NOT work.
I prefer scented candles over unscented candles. To me it is the wax that makes a difference. I really don't care for paraffin wax. I like palm wax candles. It burns cooler, cleaner, and has a better scent throw. I also prefer palm wax candles over paraffin wax candles because of the clean up. Unlike paraffin candles, palm wax candles can be cleaned with warm soap and water.
