How do you get visions?

You first follow the First and most important commandment of: Love God with your whole heart, mind, spirit and soul. Then you follow through with trust, prayer, and commitment. When you have this in place; you will find that the Holy Spirit will then start providing you with guidance. And as a result of that guidance, you will find the Holy Spirit giving a vision of your future in survive to God. A overall vision of the future will be provided and the specific guidance will be provided through the "still small voice" guidance. But you must be careful to avoid the "powerful voice" which is usually from the ruller of the earth Satan". If you can achieve the proper ballance of listening, reading The Bible and checking things out with a good Christian friend; you will have all the vision you need.

Visions usually come as the direct result of intense concentration or focus during meditation, during periods of extreme stress (which can be caused by lack of food, sleep or physical exhaustion) or under the influence of hallucinogenic drugs.

To know the answer to this you must first understand that there are different types of visions. There are visions that appear in a dream-like state and visions that appear as an overlay to the world around you to name two. Dream like visions are visions that occur when you are either asleep or in a very relaxed or meditative state. Overlay visions are a semi-translucent projection that appears over top of the world around you. Both visions usually originate from a directional source. That is they both are meant to give you direction in your life or the decisions in your life. Of course, as there are different kinds of visions the origin of the visions are equally infinite. Visions also have different levels of intensity and interaction. Meaning that you can be more involved in some visions and just a bystander in others. Commonly though, visions look different than dreams because of the vividness and will often house answers to questions that you have had. They are different than "reality" because things can happen in visions that cannot be explained through modern physics like human flight and movement.
