Hades tricks Persephone into remaining in the Underworld by offering her pomegranate seeds to eat. According to myth, once she consumes the seeds, she is bound to the Underworld, as eating food from the realm makes her a part of it. This act ultimately leads to her spending part of the year with Hades and part with her mother, Demeter, marking the changing seasons.
Yes, in some myths Zeus did trick Hades so that he could rescue Persephone from the Underworld. Zeus sent Hermes to retrieve Persephone from Hades, and Hades complied under Zeus' order. This allowed Persephone to return to the surface and be reunited with her mother Demeter.
Yes he trick Persephone into eating a pomegranate seed which forced her to return every winter to the underworld.
Persephone ate the pomegranates because she was hungry. Had she not been a goddess, she would have starved to death.
Persephone is the goddess of spring. Hades wanted to trick her into coming to the Underworld with him forever. Hades kidnapped her from her mother Demeter, the goddess of the harvest, and took her to the Underworld. If she ate anything there, she would be trapped there forever. Before Zeus sent Hermes to retrive her, Hades tricked Persephone into eating four or five pomegranate seeds. This allowed her to return to the Overworld, but in 4 or 5 months time, she would have to return the the Underworld. That is the connection between the Greek myths and the seasons.
It was a trick so she'd have to occasionally return to the underworld.
Persephone didn't eat anything down in the Underworld and until he gave her a promangate fruit.Zeus demaded that Hades give Persephone back to her Mother(Demeter) so she would let life back into the earth again.Hades said he will agree but how many seeds Peresphone eats then that's how many months she stays in the Underworld a year..Peresphone eats 6 seeds=spring, summer(she w her mother)and fall, winter=she down in the Underworld w Hades and her mother is mourning her.
Zeus and Poseidon tricked their brother, Hades, by drawing lots to determine who would rule over the sky, sea, and underworld. They tricked Hades into choosing the underworld, leaving Zeus to rule the skies and Poseidon the seas. This resulted in Hades being stuck with ruling the underworld, which was not as desirable as the other domains.
Sisyphus tricked Hades by asking Persephone for a drink of water and then refusing to return back to the underworld, thus delaying his own death. As a result, Sisyphus evaded death twice until Hades intervened and punished him with an eternal task of rolling a boulder uphill only for it to roll back down each time he reached the top.
Persephone, the unwilling bride of Hades. (I'm assuming that's who you are asking about). She is the daughter of the Nature Goddess Demeter. One of my favorite Greek stories is the one on Persephone! Persephone was out in a field picking flowers in a field (Note, quick fact, a maiden picking flowers in a field is a sure sign of trouble in Greek Mythology). Hades saw her and her beauty, and reached up to grab her. He succeeded, and took her down to the underworld as his bride. Demeter searched the world for her lost daughter, and, in her grief, forgot to give Mankind the power of nature. all the crops died, and the human race was dieing. The other gods ordered Hades to give up Persephone, but Hades had other ideas. He offered Persephone a pomegranate, (a fruit), and she ate six seeds of it. This "gift" was actually a trick. Once you have eaten food of the underworld, you are not allowed to leave. But, (because Persephone was a goddess) and (because Demeter would have continued grieving) the gods made a deal. Persephone must remain with hades for six months of the year, one month for each seed she ate. This is supposedly the reason why we have summer and winter, because, when Persephone is with her mother, there is happiness and joy and warmth, and crops grow, giving us summer. But when Persephone returns to the underworld, to hades, Demeter weeps and grieves again, and all turns cold and sad, thus giving us fall and winter.
No, he wasn't tricked into it. Each brother in a way 'drew straws', it was purely by chance, not by trickery.
Nothing; the three brothers drew fated lots after the Titan War to divide Kronos's kingdom between them.
Well, friend, Zeus didn't exactly trick Hades into ruling the underworld. You see, after defeating the Titans, Zeus and his brothers, Poseidon and Hades, drew lots to decide who would rule over the heavens, sea, and underworld. Hades, being a fair and just god, accepted his role in the underworld with grace and dignity. It's all just a part of the natural balance of the world.
