Just a dream. Flying can be interpreted as feeling like you are on top of the world, you must have accomplished something in real life to have that dream (or just feel really good about yourself). Surveys show that about 15% to 20% of the population have had an OBE at some time during their life (Blackmore, 1982). An out-of-body experience (OBE) is characterized by a feeling of departing from ones physical body and observing both ones self and the world from outside of ones body. The experience is quite common in dreams, daydreams, and memories, where we quite often take the external perspective. Some OBEs coincide with lucid dreaming. Some people experience an OBE while under the influence of an anesthetic or while semi-conscious due to trauma. Some people have an OBE while under the influence of drugs. OBEs have been induced by electrically stimulating the right angular gyrus (located at the juncture of the temporal and parietal lobes).* Finally, some people experience an OBE when they are near death (near-death experiences or NDEs). ==new answer== We leave our bodies during the dream state each night. Dreams take place in subconscious mind where there are not the limitations you relate to physically
A dream in which you are flying represents being in control. I remember a dream during my indepth studies of me enjoying flying, but when it came to landing I was awkward, which indicated I needed to work more on control or to refine the process. Being in control is essentially having the ability to respond rather than react to any situation.
From personal experience i can tell you this isn't true. I know I've had dreams of flying without falling.

Flying in a Blue Dream - song - was created in 1989.
When you dream about yourself flying, it only means that you enjoyed your daytime.
In my personal experience, the best way is to daydream as you fall asleep. Think about what you want to dream about, visualize it in your mind. For example, if you want to dream about flying, visualize yourself flying in your mind. Be sure to think about this until you fall asleep, and don't let your mind go blank. This will allow you to remain concious of your dreams as you fall asleep.
Flying dreams often represent freedom and/or the joy of success.
I have never tried flying with poppers.
Yes. A majority of people dream of flying when they are young.
This is a wish-fulfillment dream, allowing you to experience something that you cannot experience right now in real life. It is also related to the hormonal changes happening in your body, that produce the urge to be with a girl and have a family of your own. But it is only a dream. It does not predict the future, and it does not reveal anything about the girl's thoughts or feelings.
Many women experience very unusual dream during pregnancy, not just the first trimester. This is because of the high level of hormones raging through your body.
Some flying dreams fall under a category of dreams known as lucid dreaming. Lucid dreams occur when you become aware that you are dreaming. Many dreamers describe the ability to fly in their dreams as an exhilarating, joyful, and liberating experience. If you are flying with ease and enjoying the scene and landscape below, then it suggests that you are on top of a situation. You have risen above something. It may also mean that you have gained a different perspective on things. Flying dreams and the ability to control your flight is representative of your own personal sense of power. To dream that you are flying signifies a sense of freedom where you had initially felt restricted and limited. Dreams of flying generally express feelings of freedom, joy and/or enthusiasm. The dream reflects the dreamer's feelings. Such dreams express similar sentiments as common expressions such as "flying high," and "on cloud nine."
