The real Illuminati broke up around 1785. The imaginary Illuminati will never die so long as there are Conspiracy Theorists who need a strawman organization to take the blame for their own failure to earn high office. No one, repeat no one, living today, has ever been proved an Illuminati in a court of law.

The Illuminati is more than likely loosely based on some degree of truth, as most legends are. However, the speculative history on them seems to be pretty scarce and rather haphazardly concocted.

Most credible historians would probably assert that the Illuminati were once upon a time, a legitimate organization that attempted to gain political control of their immediate environment, and met with some degree of success (as well as some degree of failure).

From that stage moving forward, it probably became more "myth" than reality in the stories that were handed down among the people.

It's an intriguing story and a fun idea that captures the imagination, however any evidence that they actually existed in any way that actually impacted the world is for the most-part, non-existent, and probably not because they were "so good at covering their tracks."

Really, the reason no real evidence of their influence exists is likely because they never have, nor do they now, have any real influence.

By and large, it's a story and a myth, not a fact. It's fiction, not history.

This is a theory made up by stoner's who have nothing better to do than smoke pot and search the internet all day. hey want someone to blame about why their life is in shambles. They believe there are a select group of people who control everything and anything in the world. They say you can only become someone if they allow you to be. All sports athletes, celebrates, musicians, wealthy people, and in general anyone who is anything. It is a myth and anyone who believes it should really think about their own lives. If you want to become something than get off of the couch, grow a pair, take control and make something happen. You are your own worst enemy.

The fictional Illuminati, complete with made-up "signs" that people who are not Illuminati, swear are Illuminati signs, are a popular belief among the sort of people who think Oswald was innocent, that HAARP is a magic wand for doing just about any evil thing imaginable, including things that warming the air cannot possibly do, and that "UFO" means "Alien spacecraft!".

There are those who get great fun out of picking out the names of celebrities they don't like, then going to woowoo sites to announce so-and-so is an Illuminati. But the number of people actually proven to be an Illuminatus in a court of law... is zero. 1785 was quite a while back!

The original Order of Illuminati was organized in 1776 in Bavaria to bring together a group of enlightened thinkers. In 1785, Duke Charles Theodore, ruler of Bavaria, outlawed secret organizations, which disbanded the Illuminati.

Today's Illuminati is fictional. Any group claiming that name or anyone claiming to 'know' about a group or its members today is either gullible or selling magazines, books, or movies (or 'hits' on their website to show numbers to advertisers).

There is no true evidence to confirm or deny the existence of the modern illuminati, it is completely possible that it exists, but it could just as easily be a marketing ploy to gain free press for musicians/actors/politicians, either way, there is nothing an individual can do to stop the work of this possibly fake group
