My father's mother or my granny is the seventh daughter of the seventh daughter. Her mother was her father's seventh daughter but not her mother's. My granny was under the age of ten when her mother had to take her aside and tell her that she cannot tell everything she knows. She had outed so to speak a family friend when she asked him about something he inherited and had sold without telling anyone in their area. He had not told her parents and was concerned and confused about how she knew the information. The hills of Kentucky were a poor place at that time and anyone with some extra funds was very popular. She was told by her mother that she had to keep some things to herself. My granny was also left handed and the teacher at her school said it was a sign of a witch and she was forced to learn to write with her right hand. She is a dreamer. She dreamed and accurately foretold the comming of all of her grandchildren. My cousins especially know the pain of not being able to go somewhere or do an activity because my granny had a bad feeling or had had a dream. I fear that being born at the end of the age of bondage and having her brain rewired at a young age with the changing of her dominant hand has inhibited her potential. Learning to live with and expand upon God given and misunderstood talents was not something our society was open to nor was it trusted.

In the Middle Ages, the Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (or sometimes just the Seventh Son) was believed to be born a werewolf. The Seventh Daughter was believed to be a witch.
