No, Karl Marx (1818-1883) is known for his social philosophy, known as Marxism, and outlining social theories that form the economic model of communism. Marx published and lectured on his philosophy throughout his lifetime. Karl Marx was born 33 years after the Illuminati had ceased to exist.

The scholars that formed the Illuminati had more concrete goals to accomplish. The Illuminati was an organization (1776-1785), founded by Bavarian writer and scholar Adam Weishaupt, of enlightened intellectuals whose goal was the overthrow of an oppressive monarchy and the control of civil authorities by the Roman Catholic Church. The organization was very unsuccessful.

When Karl Theodore became ruler of Bavaria in 1777 and secret societies were banned by an edict of 1785, including the Illuminati. Weishaupt fled and his documents and correspondence were seized. Van Zwak's premises was searched and all of the groups literature was found. The entire organization disbanded and any whose name had not been uncovered did not want their association to become public.
