What ancient methods were used to predict the future?

Basicly, man has been searching for a means to "lift the veil" or assuage the fear of the future since he first became self aware. There is no knowing all of the ways they used.

However, here are a few:

Cards have been used by many cultures for centuries.

The movement of the sun and stars has been used since before Christ.

Scying (seeing) in water, oil, fire, smoke, dark mirrors, and other reflective surfaces has been practiced for centuries.

Reading the lines in a person's hands, and the bumps on their heads has been used to predict the personality and future of that person for centuries.

Weather and astrological phenomenon, the casting of bones and/or stones have been interpreted by some for longer than we have had written language.

And the intestines of sacrificial animals have been examined for hints about the future. Crystal ball gazing - reading the signs and symbols revealed within a crystal ball.
