What is a cryptid?

Cryptids are animals that are mostly based on legends rather than proof. These animals are neither proved nor disproved, although some are considered extraordinarily unlikely. Someone has seen them, or evidence of them, and often there are legends going back many years. They are not necessarily supernatural or magical like other "monsters" of legend.

Examples of cryptids are the Loch Ness monster, Bigfoot, and the Chupacabra (goat sucker). Because they lived in remote areas, both the rhinoceros and the giant squid were once considered cryptids.

Unknown animals that couldn't seem to existed, but has been sighted as in the Jersey Devil or Dover Demon.

Unknown animals that haven't been documented as real animals but have still been sighted like Bigfoot and Beast of Exmoor.

Animals that has though to be extinct or prehistoric animals that have survived and evolved as in the Loch Ness Monster and Marsupial Lion.

Some are mythical creatures thats been sighted even today like the Kappa and Kraken.
