No, Shane does not go to prison in the Morganville Vampires series Dead Girls Dance. Instead, he faces other challenges and dangers as the story unfolds.
In the final book "The Bitter Blood" of The Morganville Vampires series, Claire, Shane, Eve, and Michael successfully defeat the Founder and his followers, bringing peace to Morganville. Amelie steps down as the leader of the town, appointing Claire as the new Daylighter. The series ends with Claire and her friends finally achieving a sense of normalcy and a hopeful future in Morganville.
Claire Danvers is a advanced student. At sixteen years old she moves to Morganville, a town in the middle of nowhere, to go to Texas Prairie University for one year before she transfers out to MIT. After struggling through the dormitories she decides to move off campus and discovers that Morganville is not what it seems because the dusty old town, is run by vampires. Along with her three house mates, Michael Glass, Eve Rosser and Shane Collins they face difficult challenges avoiding the Vampires and bullies of the town.
Yes, Shane and Claire's relationship advances romantically throughout the Morganville Vampires series, but the books focus more on the emotional connection between the characters rather than explicit physical intimacy. The series follows their evolving relationship as they face various challenges and threats together.
Yes, they can.
In the novels by Rachel Caine Morganville is a small town in Texas run by Vampires. There are many humans living there but the founder, Amelie, is a vampire and the vampires out number the humans. The second in command is also a vampire, Oliver, although many believe him to be human and even Eve who worked for him was unaware that he was a vampire. The mayor of Morganville, Mayor Morell, is a human but he is outnumbered by the vampires and prefers to go along with their wishes. Besides; the vampires are a lot stronger than the humans. Humans can be protected by a vampire and each month they pay taxes in the form of blood. If a human is protected most of their taxes will go to their protector and of course, none of the other vampires can bite them. Humans who are not protected can be bitten by any vampire so most of them stay off the streets at night. A human is protected but their families protector until they are eighteen when they can choose to sign their own contract or to become unprotected. Often this leads to families disowning children who do not sign such as the case with Eve Rosser.
Rachel Caine won't do it personally as she is an author not a movie maker. She has however, sold the rights to a movie and if plans go ahead she will no doubt assist them in writing the script.
In book 9, Ghost Town.
