Witches don't make potions. Well, real witches don't. They're not green, or ugly. They look like regular people. They hurt people by doing witchcraft to summon spirits. In the Caribbean, these spirits are known as duppies. Duppies can kill you in a dream that has you being pushed off a cliff by a duppy, and never waking up from your sleep. If you survive this dream and wake up,you'll find bruises on your skin.

A Pagan Perspective

Some witches do in fact make potions. The potions made are not the sort you read about in fiction or see on TV or in the movies.

The potions I make, usually (but not always) are made for healing purposes.

A mixture of herbs, oils and other ingredients known to have specific healing properties, are combined to form either something that may be ingested or is better used topically, depending on the need.

There are other potions made for other reasons, such as: anointing, purifying, and consecrating. There is even a recipe for a "Flying" potion, but I have my doubts this was one made by a real practitioner, nor would I ever try it as several of the "ingredients" are highly toxic, hallucinogenic, or outright deadly.
