The report stated in the Yeti archive dates to 1998 when a American climber Craig Calonica, on Mount Everest, reported seeing a pair of yetis while coming down the mountain on its Chinese side. Both had thick, shiny black fur, he said, and walked upright.

It is impossible to tell exactly when the first sighting was. Mountain people in Nepal have been seeing Yeti for hundreds of years. The Yeti hasn't really been discovered yet, but a footprint was found in the 1950s that some claim is the footprint of a Yeti. There is no evidence to date to support this claim.
