Three there is still multiple millions of acres of woods and forest in many states that people just don't go into where these animals can retreat so as not to be seen.

Also statistically people in the United States only live on about 10% of the Land and about 4% in Canada, so there is an abundant amount of space for any animal smart enough to hid to stay hidden.
