In the Jaguar XJ8, the fuel lid button is typically located on the driver's side, either on the lower dashboard near the driver's seat or on the center console. It may be a small lever or button labeled with a fuel icon. To open the fuel lid, press the button or pull the lever, and the lid should release. Always refer to the owner's manual for the exact location if you have difficulty finding it.
The battery should be located in the trunk, under a carpeted lid, on right side.

the fuel pump is located in the fuel cell. the sending unit for the gage & the fuel pump are on the same bracket.
Open the trunk with the ignition key. There is a small opening in the upper right hand side of the trunk lid.
Move the seat where you want. Touch "memory" button on armrest. Touch 1, 2 or 3 button; it beeps when programmed.

It is located behind rear passenger seat. It can be accessed through the trunk.
The XJR model has two fuel pumps due to it having a supercharger. The XJ8 model has only one. They are both tank mounted.
the fuel pump is in the petrol tank which is behind the rear seats. access to it is via the boot behind the carpet on back of rear seats.

The "S" button (if it is like the one in my my XJ8) likely switches the transmission into "Sport" mode. Sport mode will require the transmission to run into the top-end engine RPM of the individual gear.
