Freyja (anglicized Freya) is the Norse goddess of love, beauty, and fertility. She is also associated with magic and shamanism; the origin of the practice of seiðr is attributed to her.

Her name derives from the Old Norse word frú, meaning "Lady", and she is the daughter of Njörðr and the sister of Freyr. Freyja also receives half of all battle-slain warriors in her hall, Fólkvangr (the other half entering Valhalla).

**Many people believe that Freyja is the same deity as Frigg, however this has not been proven.
