Animal sacrifice as a religious practice, not as something done to produce food, is definitely Non-Christian. There is no mention, except possibly historical of animal sacrifices, sometimes called Burnt Offerings, in the New Testament. It was common in the old. often animals such as birds and goats are ceremoniously dispatched on stage to unusual rites. This is not Christian. It is also cruelty to animals and occasionally makes the headlines when animal carcasses or remains are found dumped on city sidewalks- such as a decapitated Turkey on Kennedy Boulevard, and feathery remains of a big chicken, etc. it is sickening.
Animal sacrifice is still practiced in some religions, including Santeria, Vodou, and some forms of Hinduism.

The Catholic Church has never practiced animal sacrifice nor does the Church endorse it. Anything which even hints of superstition is considered as sinful by the Church.
