I think John Mark left was because Paul was bodily ill which it says in Galatians 4:13 so i think Paul was afraid of catching this disease.
John left Paul and Barnabas in Pamphylia during their missionary journey. He departed from them and returned to Jerusalem, which caused a disagreement between Paul and Barnabas later on. This event is documented in the New Testament, specifically in the Book of Acts.
Paul wrote the letters to the Thessalonians during his second missionary journey, specifically while he was in Corinth. After establishing the church in Thessalonica, he faced persecution and was forced to leave the city. Concerned for the spiritual well-being of the new believers, he wrote to encourage and instruct them in their faith, addressing issues of persecution, moral conduct, and the return of Christ. These letters are among the earliest writings of the New Testament.
This depends on the religion or denomination of the missionary. In most churches or denominations, it would be more customary to give the missionaries gifts as they leave, not as they return.
Saint Paul and Barnabas left Jerusalem for Antioch to deliver the letter from the Jerusalem Council, which clarified the requirements for Gentile believers. They were also appointed by the church in Jerusalem to share the decision with the believers in Antioch.

April was a good month to leave on the Oregon Trail.
It means to start a journey or to leave.
Francis was too busy being a priest and missionary to have time for hobbies. If he did have a hobby, he did not leave any record of it.
Saint Therese of Lisieux was too ill and bed ridden. She wanted to become a missionary but was unable to leave the convent.
