First off, if you add anything to a humidifier, you MUST be able to clean the tank and pump easily. If you can't, don't add anything more than distilled water.
As far as I know, it's never good to add the whole tea bag to the tank. Should the bag break, you can kiss the pump and motor goodbye at best, or cause an electrical short and fire at worst! A better thought would be to make the tea separately and add only the tea water (no leaves or tailings).
As for tea, that depends on your humidifier. A heat based one can take dissolved items such as tea and essential oils, but great care must be taken to assure the heating elements do not overheat, nor get build up. If your humidifier is a cool one, the atomizer which sends out the water vapors have very tiny holes/grids, so you need to be careful not to plug them up. Otherwise, it should work. Now don't expect the scent to be as good as the hot cup of tea. The extra heat from the steam pushes out more oils - best to use a hot kettle an put your head over it.
Good luck and let us know how it goes...
