My advice? Don't take doxycycline. I had only been taking it for a week and it created an ulcer in my esophagus. It was super painful to swallow and I couldn't eat anything for almost two weeks... it was not fun. I stopped taking it.
However, the doctor told me it really doesn't matter what you eat or drink-- it will still work. Things like taking it on an empty stomach or not drinking milk within 2 hours of taking it might help just get it working faster, but it ultimately doesn't make enough of a difference to worry about.
Just DO NOT lie flat until a couple hours after you take it though! That's why I got an ulcer-- I'd take it at night then go to bed. BAD idea.
