Tea or coffee is an excellent pre workout drink, but after your workouts, try to consume a good meal which has 20-40g of protein and equal of double the amount of carbohydrates based on your weight. If you are working out to gain muscle - then eat 1 portion of protein with double portion of carbs. If you are training for fat loss - eat little less or equal amount of carbs with protein
there are good carbs and bad carbs, so yes carbs can hurt if they are bad
