Yes (its a question from howrse)
mandatory....and freshen it daily
yes but only if there is no natural water source other wise its not important. :)
yes. because if the water was poisoned anyhow by people it would not be safe.
yes because they have no other source of water and a horse drinks on average 12 gallons a day and they will not get that alone from the grass or whatever they eat turned out in a pasture Yes!...and the water should be fresh and clean on a daily bases. Of course!
Anywhere livestock is penned/fenced in , if it does not have or provide a source of clean water should be equipped with troughs. It would not be good to leave animals without access to water.

Horses are herbivores that eat primarily roughage - grass, hay, stalks of various plants, etc. When they are out on pasture or are wild, they eat wherever the plants are - in the field, the pasture, the meadow, etc. When horses are stabled in a barn, they eat out of troughs or mangers.

Goats typically drink water from troughs, buckets, or other containers designed for livestock. They prefer clean, fresh water, and it's important to ensure their drinking water is free from contaminants. In some natural settings, they may also drink from streams or ponds. Providing a consistent water source is essential for their health and hydration.
It is an open container to allow larger animals like cattle, horses, goats and sheep to drink water from.
Water can cycle through sheep in a pasture when they drink water from sources such as rivers, streams, or troughs, and when they consume moisture-rich vegetation like grass or plants. Additionally, water also cycles through sheep as they excrete urine and feces, releasing water back into the environment.
