A bartender needs a good sense of humor. Your customers will often need cheering up, or have funny stories at which you have to laugh. A good trait in a friend is a sense of humor; and a bartender's number one job is to be a friend to his patrons. You should also always have a good joke or two. Just remember, not all your patrons want to hear about when your fishing buddy got his balls caught in a window sneaking out of a college dorm after a one-night stand; as Cunningham put it, always have a joke you can tell your mother.

β 14y agoKnowing how to mix drinks, pour beer from a draft, and tap a keg is helpful, but many a a bar manager deals with the inventory/stock of the items pertaining to the bar/facility. Duties also include opening and closing of the facility and cash register. A bar manager also handles the cleaning of the bar and dishes. Appropriate personnel and customer service is a must, and the ability to train someone to handle any of the following tasks and services.
