When I was a kid in the early 70's and used to play Baseball with my friends in someones back yard, we used this phrase when a pitch was right across the plate, but the batter didn't swing. "What do you want? Egg in your beer?" was our way of saying, "how much better of a pitch do you want before you'll swing at it?"

Additional Info: Yes, basically this expression means that the person this phrase is being directed to is expecting some very special treatment... something extra special(usually a little too much). Coming from the coal region, my father who was a coal miner said that the coal miners would enjoy a drink of beer every now and then and to have an egg in your beer was a special treat. Extra protein and nutrition which was a very needed thing for these workers.
