As with most sodas, the acid in Coca-Cola is mostly the dissolved carbon dioxide that forms weak carbonic acid. Under reduced pressure or agitation, this is released as the "fizz" of the beverage. Carbonation improves the "drinkability" of the soda, and other acids such as phosphoric acid are added to counteract the sweetness of the drink.
