The cold water loses some heat, which may cause its temperature to drop slightly. Eventually, the two bodies of water will reach thermal equilibrium, resulting in a uniform temperature that is between the initial temperatures of the icy water and the cold water. This process is governed by the principles of heat transfer and thermodynamics.
