This type of brandy (hence the protected name) comes from a hotter climate than and sandy soil. These two properties makes a big difference on the quality of the grapes that are grown in order to make Armagnac (brandy is a liquor that is made from distilled Grape Juice). The combination of these two qualities are considered unique to brandy making. After the grape juice is fermented then the wine is distilled. The distilled liquid is matured in oak casks.
