When a person intakes caffeine, the brain actually shrinks! It's a microscopic amount, but it does. There is a layer of muscle tissue over the brain. This shrinks with the brain. So, when a person tries to stop drinking caffeine (soda, coffee, whatever) the brain returns to the original size. The layer of muscle tissue DOESN'T! This is why people who drink caffeine a lot get headaches when they try to stop.
