A bottle of fizzy cola is heavier.
Weight is related to mass. Whenever something loses material and doesn't gain any to replace it, it loses mass. The bottle of fizzy cola has everything the bottle of flat cola has, but the bottle of flat cola has lost some carbon dioxide.
Although carbon dioxide is a gas, and doesn't weigh much more than air, the carbon dioxide in cola is compressed and dissolved and is at a higher pressure and density than carbon dioxide at normal atmospheric pressure. Therefore there is a greater mass of it present. However, the difference in weight would still not be great between the fizzy cola and the flat cola, and it would be difficult to detect.
If the cap is left off the bottle, the carbon dioxide (CO2) dissolved in the cola will escape into the air, causing the drink to go flat. Over time, the cola will lose its fizziness and carbonation, resulting in a less refreshing taste. Additionally, exposure to air can lead to oxidation, which might affect the flavor and quality of the cola.
I believe that it does loose its fizzy
The opposite of fizzy is flat. While fizzy refers to beverages that contain bubbles or carbonation, flat describes drinks that lack this effervescence and have a smooth texture without bubbles. Flat beverages can include still water or non-carbonated drinks.
All fizzy drinks contain carbon dioxide dissolved in water (some of it forming carbonic acid). When in this dissolved state the CO2 doesn't take up much space. Shaking the bottle will release the CO2 gas .and one it is no longer dissolved it will tend to take up more space.
The carbon dioxide gas in solution (added under pressure) begins to diffuse into the air, and eventually most will escape, leaving the beverage flat (uncarbonated). If you unwisely agitate (shake) the cola before opening, the gas molecules will gain energy and will more quickly diffuse from the open bottle: the cola will explosively gush out of the bottle with it.
it goes flat..
Actually, carbon dioxide is shot into the soda and that what makes it so fizzy. can you explain why that happens?-flub flub
You can make flat drinks fizzy again by adding fresh carbonated water or soda to the drink. Alternatively, you can use a home carbonation system like a soda maker to add bubbles back into the drink. Swirling the drink gently can also help restore some fizz.
if its flat you can wash your sink with it.
Flat cola is a homogeneous mixture. In a homogeneous mixture, the components are evenly distributed and not easily distinguishable, which is the case with flat cola where the sugar, flavorings, and water are uniformly mixed. The loss of carbonation makes it appear more uniform compared to a carbonated version.
A lower pH level indicates that a substance is more acidic. The reason Coca-Cola is more acidic than lemonade is because the carbonic acid, the stuff that makes cola fizzy, is stronger in acidity and greater in quantity in cola than the citric acid in lemonade. Because of this, flat soda is much less acidic.
A full tire is heavier than a flat tire. When a they are both flat they weigh the same but added air makes the full tire heavier.
