On the long iPod shuffles you pull the bottom off.
Yes, shake the ipod to shuffle if you do not want these settings go to settings, music, then turn off shake to shuffle.

what you do is take the ipod shuffle and take of the necklace and there should be a usb plug you put that in to you computer or your laptop and you should have the Ipod off and it will charge to check it press the batter icon. kk hope that helps. :)
