They are made of bolth because they are vertically developed. The bottom is made of water, and as they develop higher, become ice.

What is cirrocumulus clouds made of?

Like other clouds, cumulonimbus clouds are made of water droplets and ice crystals. They're often associated with severe weather such as thunderstorms.Mostly a lot of condensed water droplets.Cumulonimbus clouds are made of water droplets in their lower portions and ice crystals in their upper portions.Pretty much all clouds are made of water vapor (steam) that evaporates from lakes or rivers.

Can cirrus clouds form snow?

Cirrus clouds are high enough to be at a low enough temperature for the water droplets to form into ice crystals. However, Cirrus clouds are not precipitation clouds, so no snow or rain can fall from them. The clouds that can cause snow to fall in the right conditions are Nimbostratus and Cumulonimbus clouds.

Why are clouds that form at the top of the troposphere made of ice crystals rather than drops of water?

Clouds are made up of very small water droplets which are suspended in the air. If the air continues to cool, the small droplets will join together to form larger droplets or ice crystals. Eventually the weight of the water drops or ice crystals may be heavy enough to make them fall as precipitation(rain, snow, hail or ice). The higher clouds which don't produce precipitation are formed of the crystals while the lower clouds which produce precipitation are formed of water droplets which are the melted crystals.

How can rain and hail fall from the same cumulonimbus cloud?

The clouds usually are fairly restricted in height, but can sometimes extend upwards to much higher altitudes when they become known as cumulonimbus clouds. These are very large and can extend to 12000 metres or higher. At base level, the cloud is made up of water droplets but the top of the cloud is made up of ice crystals. Cumulonimbus produce severe weather such as heavy rain, hail, thunderstorms and tornadoes.

What are the ingredients of a cloud?

The condensing substance of cloud is typically water vapor, which forms small droplets or ice crystals, typically 0.01 mm in diameter. When surrounded by billions of other droplets or crystals they become visible as clouds.

How does altitude affect clouds?

Altitude affects the composition of clouds because the troposphere is very cold, so the clouds up higher are made of ice crystals. The clouds in the lower sections are made of water droplets or a mixture of water droplets and ice crystals.

What are clouds an example of?

Clouds are an example of suspended water droplets or ice crystals in the Earth's atmosphere. They form when air rises and cools, causing moisture to condense into visible droplets or crystals.

Where is liquid water found in the atmosphere?

Rain? Clouds are also made out of water droplets (or ice crystals).

Why are the clouds clouds?

Clouds are a mass of small water droplets or tiny ice crystals. Clouds are classified according to their appearance, form and height .There are four groups.
