Human beings and a lot of other critters may have a rough time of it, but the Earth will do just fine. If it gets rid of us, probably better.
No. The earth will end - sometime. But not in the near future. It is imporbable that anyone alive now will see the end of the earth. Getting slammed by a gigantic rock from space is probably the most probable way the earth will end in the foreseeable future. And by that, we're talking a rock several tens of miles across. A planet killer. Short of that, some of us will survive.There are probably going to be some folks around on earth for a good long while. The real question is how bad is it going to get for those of us here. Global climate change is a problem. Fundamentalists want war. Fools perpetuate tribal violence. Greedy powermongers keep whole peoples down. Oh, we'll be here a while. At least some of us. But how will we measure the quality of our lives?
