Yes, If you pass liquid nitrogen through water, it will cool the water. It will cool it to the point of freezing and then down to about -300F if you continue to pass it through the ice.

Can liquid nitrogen be used for cooling your house?

Yes, liquid nitrogen can be used to cool air passed through a heat exchanger. It is however a once through system. You would need a tank to hold the liquid nitrogen, and have more delivered every so often. very expensive.

Is liquid nitrogen used in refrigerators for cooling?

No. Refrigerators use a substance called Freon that can readily change from liquid to gas to liquid, moving heat from inside the fridge to the outside. Liquid nitrogen is FAR too cold, and requires too much energy to make the change from gas to liquid.Yes, liquid nitrogen is used in refrigerators. Nitrogen is a diatomic gas. The two nitrogen atoms are bond with a triple bond.

How can nitrogen be used?

nitrogen can be used for cooling computer systems and for fertilizing plants in a certain way

Liquid Nitrogen kill warts?

While liquid nitrogen theoretically could be used as a wart remover, this is not done in practice due to the difficulty of maintaining nitrogen in the liquid state. Commercial wart remover products contain dimethyl ether and propane. These liquified compounds (which are gaseous at room temperature and pressure) boil upon releasing the pressure in the container, thereby causing a dramatic cooling effect. Because liquid nitrogen is so cold and can cause severe frost bite, it is used only by physicians to kill warts.

Can you freeze liquor with liquid nitrogen?

About the temperature of dry ice. It is the same as putting frozen water (ice) in a glass of water. The temperature of the ice and water will be about equal to the freezing point of water. Alcohol is used because it has a freezing point lower than H2O, if you put dry ice in water everything will freeze.

Why is nitrogen is used as a cooling agent?

Nitrogen is used as a cooling agent in its liquid state due to its low temperature and efficient heat transfer. It is capable of keeping components at sub zero temperatures even under load.

What is a substance such as liquid nitrogen used to obtain very low temperatures?

A substance like liquid nitrogen is used to obtain very low temperatures through a process known as cryogenic cooling. It is commonly used in scientific research and industrial applications, such as in cryopreservation of biological samples, freezing and storing food, and cooling superconducting materials. Liquid nitrogen has a boiling point of -196 degrees Celsius (-321 degrees Fahrenheit), making it suitable for achieving extremely low temperatures.

Can liquid nitrogen be used as a fertilizer for agriculture?

No. Firstly liquid nitrogen has a boiling point of 77K. That's -196degrees Celsius, which will freeze all water in contact with it. Not only will the roots not be able to take up water from the soil, water within the plant cells will also freeze, damaging the roots. Secondly, liquid nitrogen will vaporize rapidly when exposed to the environment, which is at room temperature. This means that when liquid nitrogen is poured into the soil, it is not different from the plant absorbing nitrogen in the form of gaseous nitrogen. Thirdly, nitrogen uptake is best facilitated in the aqueous form, ie. dissolved in water in the form of nitrate or ammonium ions. Liquid nitrogen/gaseous nitrogen do not dissolve very well in water.

What is the primary component with a PC that keeps it cool?

I'm not sure what the most recent method is, but most computers use heat sinks and cooling fans to keep them cool however there are other methods such as liquid cooling, complete submersion in mineral oil, and even liquid nitrogen cooling. Extreme methods, such as liquid nitrogen, are usually used when overclocking a computer.

Why is liquid nitrogen used in beer cans over liquid oxygen?

The answer is, liquid nitrogen ISN'T used in beer cans. Nitrogen GAS is. And the reason nitrogen gas is used in beer cans is to emulate draft beer such as one would get out of a keg(as opposed to cask) beer.
