People are cutting down on their emissions of C02 by driving less and using less energy in general. Governments are switching to less polluting energy sources such as wind turbines or hydroelectric dams.

Many Earth clubs have been started so people know what is really going on. But, on the other hand people MANY people don't care but if they knew what was going on they would realize something must change.

Gases that contribute to the greenhouse effect are known as greenhouse gases. After carbon dioxide, in order of importance, they are methane, nitrous oxide and CFC's(chlorofluorocarbons). The atmospheric concentrations of these other gases have also been rising. Methane is released from paddy fields, farm animals and natural gas fields, and its concentration is increasing at about 1.2 per cent per year. Nitrous oxide is released as a result of the use of nitrogenous fertilisers. CFC use has been reduced and will cease altogether because of its damaging effect on the ozone layer. The relatively small amounts of water and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere absorb and re-radiate heat from the earth to bring about the greenhouse gas effect. Scientists are concerened that adding more CO2 to the atmosphere by burning fossil fuels may upset the natural balance. Reducing the amount of Co2 we pump into the atmosphere would help stop global warming. It is these carbon emissions that cause the earth to warm but the problem is that natural Co2 causes like volcanoes we can do nothing about.
