Air, like any other gas, has volume. When you blow air into a balloon, the air takes the shape of the balloon. If more air is blown in, the balloon becomes larger as the volume of the air is increased. If some of the air is released, the balloon becomes smaller as the volume of the air is decreased.

Like all mass, air does have density. Density is calculated by the formula M/V=D, where M is Mass, V is Volume and D is Density.

Mass is the scientifically correct term for weight, weight varies depending on the gravity, mass is constant.

Volume is the area that a substance takes up, a Litre is a measurement of volume.

Air is composed of various gases, on Earth it's something like 21% Oxygen 78% Nitrogen, along with water vapor, carbon dioxide, and other gases like hydrogen and methane. Even the lightest of gases have mass, so they must have a density.

When you compare the density of water or air with another object how can you tell which has the lower or higher density?

-- If the object floats in water, then its density is less than the density of water. -- If the object sinks in water, then its density is more than the density of water. -- If the object floats in air, then its density is less than the density of air. -- If the object sinks in air, then its density is less than the density of air.

At a given temperature, the higher the air density, the higher the air pressure.

How does altitude affect density and air pressure?

Altitude has a large affect on the air pressure and air density. Air density reduces with altitude and air pressure reduces with altitude as well.
