Best Answer

F2 does not combine directly with O2. so there will be no reaction under ordinary condition.

But F2 does forms two oxides OF2 & O2F2.

OF2 is prepared by passing F2 into 2% NaOH solution and O2F2 is formed when an electric discharge is passed through a mixture of O2 & F2 at very low pressure and temperature

It is rather difficult to react fluorine with oxygen. However, if the reaction is forced you should get OFl6 . But, this molecule is never actually found. You simply can't force oxygen into this configuration.

No.

Fluorine and oxygen are both elements. This means that neither of them is made up of some other element. In contrast, a compound such as water is made up of two elements, hydrogen and oxygen.

A hydrogen bond forms between molecules that contain hydrogen bonded to?

Nitrogen, Oxygen and Fluorine

Why the compounds of fluorine with oxygen are called fluorides of oxygen and not oxides of fluorine?

As fluorine is more electronegative than oxygen, fluorine acts as the electron acceptor in the compounds with oxygen. As fluorine becomes partially negative charged and positive for oxygen, they are called fluorides.

Does table salt contain fluorine?

No, it does not contain fluorine, it contains Sodium and Chloride.

Why oxygen forms positive charge with fluorine?

Because fluorine has greater electronegativity than oxygen.

Silicon don't contain fluorine !

Fluorine is more electronegative than oxygen?

Yes it is more electro negative. F has the highest electro negativity

Is it necessary that an oxidising agent should contain oxygen?

No. An oxidizing agent only needs to be able to increase the oxidation state of an element in another substance, which is a matter of electron transfer rather than oxygen. The halogens, especially fluorine, are strong oxidizing agents that do not contain oxygen.

What are some elements that contain the most reactive non metals?

Fluorine is the single most reactive nonmetal, with oxygen and chlorine close behind.

Is 0-F polar or non polar?

the Oxygen-Fluorine bond is polar, as the fluorine is more electronegative than the Oxygen, the Fluorine would be the negative side

How does fluorine's electronegativity compare to the electronegativigty of oxygen and chlorine?

Fluorine has the highest electronegativity among the three elements. Oxygen is the second most electronegative, while chlorine has a slightly lower electronegativity compared to both fluorine and oxygen.

How fluorine reacts with cold water?

fluorine reacts with water veryviciously the chemical equation for it is fluorine + oxygen = fluorine oxide
