Paleontology
The Paleozoic era began about 543 million years ago. It came after the Precambrian era and before the Mesozoic era.
The area of Earth science that examines the physical and biological changes that have occurred in Earth's past is called paleontology. Paleontology focuses on studying fossils and ancient life forms to understand the history of life on Earth.
Paleontology is the study of the history of the Earth, generally the ancient history, prior to the existence of the human race. Petrology is the study of rocks. Since most rocks are very old, there is some overlap between these two subjects.
Some innovative and engaging paleontology science fair projects for students could include studying the evolution of a specific dinosaur species, analyzing fossilized footprints to understand ancient animal behavior, or creating a 3D model of a prehistoric ecosystem.
That would be paleontology, the study of prehistoric life forms by an examination of the fossil record. Glaciology is the study of glaciers and their effects, and hydrology is the study of the movement, distribution, and quality of water throughout its cycle.
