∙ 12y agoit depends what you mean, if plastic is burnt then there is the potential to produce toxic fumes that can be harmful to the environment and humans. But also plastic is non-biodegradable so will not decompose therefore if we are to continually dump plastic in landfill sites it will stay there and nothing will happen and we will eventually run out of space and the environment is damaged in this way.

∙ 11y agoBecause it does not degrade. Throw away a banana skin and it will rot and become part of the soil to feed new plants. Throw away plastic and in 1000 years it will still be there as plastic.
