The Earths crust has been moving around for millions of years. many places where we noe find fossils that lived in the ocean were once under the water. land being pushed up and the water level in the oceans dropping explain why fossils are now found on dry land.

By uplift of the crust.

If you take a piece of paper, place it on the desk and push it together from both sides, it will lift up in the middle like a mountain. This is how mountains form, by two pieces of the earth pushing together and squeezing it up.

If the piece of earth pushed up had fossils buried in it, then these fossils will still be there in the mountain.
